Lu Dumar has a 400 acre grazing property at Koyuga, near Echuca. Tucked away in one corner is five acres of grapes and five acres of persimmons. The major varieties are cabernet and shiraz with small plantings of experimental vines. Lu is the first vineyard in this area. The first two vintages suggest wines not unlike the Goulburn Valley, with some of the Rutherglen richness thrown in. We take all the grapes from this vineyard.
A small vineyard comprising three acres of chardonnay on the Mornington Peninsula at Flinders. It is run by our friends of 20+ years, John and Suzie Fredersdorf. John still commutes to a job in the city each day but Suzie is full-time on the property.
The fruit is wonderful with lots of crisp acid and beautiful flavour. We take all the fruit and have made two vintages from here now. We have made both sparkling and table wines each year. The wine quality has been stunning. Long term pinot noir may be planted as well.
A unique vineyard in suburban East Keilor. The climate is similar to nearby Sunbury and grows magnificent cool climate grapes. The cab sav - cab franc wine from this vineyard in 1998 was the best of the 1998 reds that we made. Angelo and Tony Sisiliano grow grapes for themselves primarily, but have a significant excess each year which all comes to us.
